Can someone advise if a European Certificate of Origin is required to export to Malaysia?

Hi Linda

When shipping to Malaysia, a certificate of origin is not required unless specifically requested by the customer, but origin must be shown on the invoice.

It should be noted that a Certificate of Origin may still be specifically requested in the contract, or under the terms of a Letter of Credit.  If this is the case then you should contact your local chamber of commerce, which can be found in the 'Chamber Directory' in the 'About' drop-down in e-z Cert World.

I hope this helps,
Darren

You may also like to note that the commercial invoice is required specifically to read “We hereby declare that the country of origin of the goods is ...”.  If you need the signature on your invoice to be certified (by the Chamber of Commerce), then you should note that facsimile signatures are not allowed when exporting to Malaysia.  I also believe that Malaysian Customs require three original invoices.
