The Formal Undertaking is an agreement between you and your Chamber and must be signed annually by a responsible person in your organisation.
The Formal Undertaking is a contractual agreement that you will comply with the regulations which apply to the use of Certificates of Origin. These regulations are set down by the European Community and are managed in the UK by the British Chambers of Commerce.
You will need to send the signed Formal Undertaking to your Chamber, together with copies of the signatures of those people in your organisation who are authorised to sign documents. These will be lodged with your chamber and will be used to validate your Certificate of Origin applications.
If your chamber is using the e-Cert Formal Undertaking management system, then you will received reminders from e-Cert when your Formal Undertaking is due for renewal.
